Elastics, quoits, pick up sticks, mop hats - not the type of things you would expect to see at a school these days. The 5/4 classes at Beerwah State School have taken a step back in time by putting themselves in the shoes of a child from the early
1800s.

They have been experiencing the historical context for their English unit through role-play, games and shared historical texts. Oral language experiences have been a highlight, with students dressing up and practising speaking like a child in the 1800s. A special guest even arrived to share their experiences travelling on a convict ship and arriving in Australia!
