The Beerwah State School Athletics Carnival was held on Thursday 17 June.  This was a whole school carnival.  Some events were held prior to the carnival but the majority of events were held on the day.

The carnival started with an amazing march past by the House Teams - Coochin, Bluegum, Mellum and Stanley.  It was a beautiful, sunny day and all students were excited to be involved in the event.

After the March Past, it was time to start the running races.  All students from Prep to Year 6 ran in a short distance race ranging from 60m - 100m.  Some students then ran again in a final for their event.  The races were hard fought and very exciting for all involved.

Once we had our eating break, it was time for the junior school to head to the Junior oval and compete in a rotation of novelty events.  The older students rotated around 4 different athletic events.  All students were able to participate in each of the events on the day.   At the end of the day, there was one eventual winner.  The points for each house were:

MELLUM 851  -  COOCHIN 946  -  STANLEY 952  -  BLUEGUM 963

Bluegum was our Champion House for 2021, but as you can see from the scores, it was a really close competition.   Age Champions and Runner Up Champions were as follows:

9 yo Boys - Alby (Champion) Seb (Runner-up)    9yo Girls - Tahlia (Champion) Jenna (Runner-up)

10 yo Boys - Flynn (Champion) Rylan (Runner-up)    10yo Girls - Annika (Champion) Tahlia (Runner-up)

11 yo Boys - Rafe (Champion) Lachlan (Runner-up)    11yo Girls - Stephanie (Champion) Ashley (Runner-up)

12 yo Boys - Justin (Champion) Carter & Seth (Runner-up)    12yo Girls - Shae (Champion) Ria (Runner-up)

I would like to thank all of the parents who volunteered their time to help out with our Athletics Carnival.  Whether you were helping with events or selling food and drinks, your help was invaluable in making our day a success.  Thank-you so much.
