On Friday 30 April, students in Year 3 and 4 visited The Ginger Factory. While we were there we had loads of fun riding on the old cane train, following the Gruffalo trail and taking a boat ride around the world on the Overboard boat ride. The students were buzzing as were learned lots of interesting facts during the live Bee Show. The most interesting fact was that when the queen bee is getting old she decides which baby bees could be the next queen. The strongest of those becomes the next queen bee.
We also went behind the scenes to watch and learn about how ginger is turned from a root of a plant into many different products. There were lots of machines doing all of the work but we learned that this wasn’t always the case. Most of the work used to be done by hand. We all had an amazing time and learned so much along the way!
