In this busy world the school strives to have clear and timely, (and time saving!) communication with our community. Please refer to the Communication Placemat (PDF, 139KB) to determine the appropriate method and avenue of communication for any information you require. If you are unsure, please email the school via admin@beerwahss.eq.edu.au and your query will be passed on to the appropriate staff member.
We welcome parents and other members of our diverse community into our school. Working together with the school community, school staff support the learning and wellbeing of every student, and are entitled to a safe work environment. Parents and other visitors to our school support safety by ensuring their communications and conduct at the school and school activities is respectful. Please read our Parent and Community Code of Conduct (PDF, 111KB) for more information.
Please see out Parent Correspondence page for forms & documents

All class teachers send a Term Overview newsletter at the beginning of each term via email. If you would prefer to receive a hard copy, please email the school office for your child’s teacher to be advised.
Email
The school email system is used to send important updates and electronic permission forms for student activity. Please ensure that you notify us of any changes to your email contact details by emailing admin@beerwahss.eq.edu.au
Email is the preferred contact method with teachers. Messages will be passed on just before break times (see class times page) unless it is urgent circumstances.
SMS
The main function of the SMS system is to monitor daily attendance. Under its student safety obligations, the school is obliged to send SMS queries for any unexplained absences. If Parents/Carers know that there student may be away for a few days eg. Flu. They can indicate this in their reply SMS. Under compulsory schooling legislation of the Education Act, Parents/Carers have an obligation to provide explanations for students’ absences.
Staff will send an SMS message if they have been unable to make phone contact with a parent/carer on a matter of importance. The SMS system is part of our emergency communication system.

Parent-Teacher Interviews
These take place twice a year. In February Parents/Carers have the chance to discuss their student’s needs for the year and ask questions about the classroom program. In the middle of the year, the interview is a sharing of progress. In each case, students are welcome to be part of these interviews. Booking for these interviews is online and information is published in the school newsletter.
Other Communication
The staff of our school are dedicated in their commitment to provide the best possible education for our ‘Kandoo kids’. Parents/Carers who have a concern or query regarding any school related matter are encouraged to make contact. The can contact their child’s teacher via email for matters specific to their child. If it is of a more general nature and you are unsure of who to direct the query to, please email admin@beerwahss.eq.edu.au . You will receive a reply to acknowledge receipt of your query and information on who is managing it.
Student Collection
Break times are 11:00 - 11:30am and 1:00 - 1:40pm. If Parents/Carers need to collect students for an appointment it should be done at these times. Student pick up at other times should only be for urgent circumstances as individual messages are an interruption to class learning. Please call or email the school to notify prior to arriving to collect your student.
Communication is very important to our school community and together we continue to teach and support your child and all of our students to be the best they can be.
