Uniform PolicyThe Beerwah State School community recognises the importance of wearing of a school uniform and has endorsed the school dress code. All students are required to wear the uniform which includes a black reversable bucket hat with house colour. Uniforms must be in good condition without holes or rips.

Athletics – House Colours
Students are encouraged to wear sun safe T-shirts in house colours for our School Interhouse Carnivals. Sport Houses are Coochin (red), Mellum (green), Stanley (yellow) and Blue Gum (blue).
Hats
The school hat is a black reversable bucket hat with a house colour, that offers good sun protection. Caps are not permitted. The school's sun safe policy is “NO HAT – NO OUTSIDE PLAY".
Hair
Hair should be of a natural colour, worn in a neat and tidy style appropriate to a primary school aged child. If hair is shoulder length or longer, it is required to be neatly tied back. Hair should not obscure students' view.
Fashion trends, including, but not limited to, shaved heads, shaving designs, “mohawks", beading, unnatural
dyeing, and gel that sets the hair in unnatural styles are not permitted.
Jewellery and make-up
Jewellery and make-up are restricted under Workplace Health and Safety legislation to; a watch, a signet ring, a medical bracelet or chain, one set of plain (silver or gold), small studs or sleepers worn in the ears (no colours), neither nail polish nor temporary tattoos are to be worn at school, no make-up is to be worn including false eyelashes and fingernails.
NOTE: Any religious medallion (only with prior permission from the Principal after a family meeting) is worn inside clothing.
- Denim shorts, jeans, cargo pants and bike pants are NOT acceptable. Length should be mid-thigh.
- Socks for boys and girls must be visible above the ankle. Sockettes are not acceptable
- Backless shoes, open toed shoes and sandals, ballet flats, crocs and “party" shoes are not acceptable (excluding medical conditions with permission)
- Year 6 Shirts are not to be worn on excursions or ceremonies
Black Jumpers
Please note that students may wear plain black V Neck or Zip Up jackets if you are unable to purchase our school jacket. Hoodies are not permitted.
Deodorant and Perfume
Aerosol deodorant, perfume and sprays are not permitted on school grounds
Non-Uniform Days
On special “non-uniform days" or on the rare occasion that the school uniform is not ready to be worn, the clothes worn by the student should reflect the style of the uniform. As the clothing should be “sun safe", it should include a collared shirt with sleeves over the shoulder and a wide brimmed hat. Where unsuitable clothes are worn to school, parents will be contacted to bring to the school a change of clothes.
